One of the major feature that was missing from the iPhone bluetooth transfer i.e. transfering file from one device to another via bluetooth. iBluetooth, a third-party app via cydia made this thing happen and allowed the iPhone to transfer any file from the iPhone’s file system to any device.

QuickOffice via AppStore is the only app that allows you to create, view and save word (.doc) and excel files (xls) on your iPhone. You will be amazed to know that a combination of the two (iBluetooth and QuickOffice) actually allows you to transfer these files from your iPhone to any other device via bluetooth (For your information QuickOffice app officially allows you to tranfer files over wifi). However, to make tranfer via bluetooth possible, you need to have quickoffice, ibluetooth as well as iFile Or MobileFinder installed on your iPhone. I prefer iFile as its more stable compared to MobileFinder.

The process is quite simple. The first step is to create a word or excel file from the quickoffice app and save it within the app. You can also save it in a particular folder. Now to send this file you will first need to go to the path var/mobile/applications using ifile. There you would see a list of AppStore applications installed with long wierd titles like 2dfa459 etc. There you need to check out which app is quickoffice for which you will have to manually go into each folder. In my case the folder name was 2d7e600E-EF2D etc. As you go into the folder, you will see 4 folders namely Documents, Library, Quickoffice.app, tmp and a file named iTunesArtwork. Go to the folder ‘Documents’ and see whether the file is located there or not. I’m sure it would be there if you have saved it.

Now, after locating your file, go to the application iBluetooth and go to the ‘file’ tab below. Then go the the path var/mobile/applications/yourfoldername/documents/yourfile. As you click on the file to be transfered you will see the application searching for devices and then you can send that particular file. You can follow the same procedure to receive a file and then save it in the ‘documents’ folder via iFile.

I know the process is a bit confusing but once you get it right it can do wonders. After this discovery iPhone no longer remains as a less-featured phonecompared to smart phone in the market. Infact, it takes the iPhone to a even more higher level making it almost the ‘KING’ of all mobile phones. The only problem is that this will cost you heavily amlost around $25 if you buy both the apps. However, you can consider saving a few $$ by going for iBlueooth crack on cydia.

Watch the first Video (below) to see detailed instructions on how to instaill iBlueTooth from Cydia. Or you can also download it here: Download iBlueTooth Cracked Free, but I recommend you use the video instructions and download via your phone from Cydia.

iBluetooth : Worlds first application that enables the file transfer via Bluetooth on your iPhone. So , yes that means that the iPhone can now go party with all the other bluetooth cell phones. It’s about damn time. And i won’t miss the opportunity to say it once again : Shame on you Apple.

As you know this is not a Apple release ( of course ), and you can find it starting today in Cydia under the iSpazio repo. iBluetooth got image support is built in, and the file viewer allow you to send ANY file on the device. Music can already be sent by selecting an MP3/wav/aiff file from the file system. However, i’ll include a music library to send ipod syncronized songs directly in the near future.

I know you didnt expect this, but iBluetooth it’s NOT free . It costs 3.99 € which is about $5. To be honest i expected this one to be free, and to find donation requests for all the hard work. But i totally agree with the dev. Here’s MeDevil’s answer to “why is it not free” :

Mainly, because apple didn’t want to include a full bluetooth stack to be used by the developers. Implementing a complete and stable stack (with all the bluetooth profiles) is nearly impossible for me in a short time, so i’ve considered the idea of buying a complete (and well-tested) stack. Now, there are only 3 stack that supports almost all bluetooth profiles: BlueMagic, BCHS, ClarinoxBlue and, of course, all of these are VERY EXPENSIVE.
So, i’ve decided to make you pay* this application, so i can buy one of those stack for ALL the community and implement a background daemon that will provide a full-featured stack for ANY developer out there.

As you can read in the title there is a crack available and you will find it on FSMdotCOM. HOWEVER , THAT DOESEN’T MEAN THAT YOU DONT NEED TO BUY THE APP.

1. Pressing the lock button and the home button at the same time takes a screenshot!
2. The microphone in the earphones/headset is also a button. Squeeze it for incoming calls, squeeze it again to hang up. Squeezing it once while inactive will make it the play/pause for the ipod. Double-squeezing it will skip songs. Note: If you squeeze it 3 times it skips back one song.

3. The iPhone has three cool sensors. First, it has an accelerometer that detects when you’ve rotated the iPhone into landscape orientation. In programs like Photos, Safari, and iPod, it triggers the screen image to rotate as well.

Camouflaged behind the black glass where you can’t see them except with a bright flashlight are two more sensors: a proximity sensor that shuts off the screen illumination and touch sensitivity when the phone is against your head (it works only in the Phone application), and an ambient-light sensor that brightens the display when you’re in sunlight and dims it in darker places.

Apple says that it experimented with having the light sensor active all the time, but it was weird to have the screen get brighter and darker all the time. So the sensor now samples the ambient light, and adjusts the brightness; it does this only once—each time you unlock the phone after waking it.

You can use that tip to your advantage. By covering up the sensor (just above the earpiece) as you unlock the phone, you force it to a low-power, dim screen-brightness setting (because the phone believes that it’s in a dark room). Or by holding it up to a light as you wake it, you get full brightness. In both cases, you’ve saved all the taps and navigation it would have taken you to find the manual brightness slider in Settings.

4. I’m going to share with you the solution to one of the most annoying things, if not THE most annoying thing, about typing on the iPhone:

The punctuation keys and alphabet keys appear in two different keyboard layouts.

So every time you want to type a period or a comma, it’s a three-step, awkward dance: (1) Tap the “.?123” key in the lower left to summon the punctuation layout. (2) Type the period. (3) Type the ABC key in the lower left to return to the alphabet layout.

Imagine how excruciating it is to type, for example, “a P.O. Box in the U.S.A.”! That’s 34 finger taps and 10 mode

The iPhone doesn’t register most key presses until you *release* your finger. I discovered that the Shift and Punctuation keys register their taps on the *press-down* instead.

So here’s what you can do, all in one motion:

    A. Touch the “.?123” key, but don’t lift your finger as the punctuation layout appears.

    B. Slide your finger a half inch onto the period or comma key, and release.

Incredibly, the ABC layout returns automatically. You’ve typed a period or a comma with one finger touch instead of three. In fact, you can type ANY of the punctuation symbols the same way.

This makes a HUGE difference in the usability of the keyboard.

     C. The iPod module on the iPhone starts out with buttons along the bottom for summoning four lists: Playlists, Artists, Songs, and Videos.

But what about Albums? Genres? Composers?

They’re there, all right, but hidden; you have to tap More to see them.

But what if you use those lists more often than Artists or Songs? No problem: you can replace one of those starter buttons with a list of your own.

Tap More, and then tap the Edit button (upper-left corner). You arrive at the Configure screen. Here’s the complete list of music-and-video sorting lists: Albums, Podcasts, Audiobooks, Genres, Composers, Compilations, Playlists, Artists, Songs, and Videos.

To replace one of the four starter icons, use a finger to drag an icon from the top half of the screen downward, directly onto the existing icon you want to replace. It lights up to show the success of your drag.

When you release your finger, you’ll see that the new icon has replaced the old one. Tap Done in the upper-right corner.

5. Link here to find iPhone tricks

            http://missingmanuals.com/david_pogues_favorite_iphone_tricks.csp

6. When sending a text you can just tap the space bar twice at the end of a sentence and will automatically put in a full stop.

7. Press the home button twice to change/pause the song and adjust the volume. This does work, but it depends on what you have the Home button set to do. Mine goes to favorite contacts when I double click it. It You can be set to go to your Home page, to Favorites, or to iPod.

8. Jailbreak it and have your mind blown. Then you can: Record videos, use VoIP on edge/3g (or wifi) download from safari so i can find songs on the move and play via dtunes, custom themes, make your own ringtones, software unlock to use other carriers. GREAT FOR TRAVELING LIKE I DO! sending MMS via Swirly MMS, (picture texts), NINTENDOOOOOOO, tehering your iphone to your computer to use your edge/3g data on your laptop, GREAT for people on the move! doesnt cost extra, just uses the data form your plan. Soulseek so you cna download FREE mp3′s directly to your iphone via wifi/edge/3g. FREE apple store apps! and who can forget SEGA! haha awesome. Tip:3 clicks to the headphones makes the track go to the previous song

9. One of my favorite…. When playing a song in iPod (play/pause volume controls), swipe right on the cover art to return to the track list. Make sure that the options menu (shuffle/repeat controls) isn’t on screen when you do this, otherwise it won’t work.

10. This is pretty basic, but some people don’t know about it. For websites you visit often, you can place an icon on your home page that links directly to it. Note: FYI: The Facebook app is extremely buggy, so instead of using it I put a link to Facebook Mobile on my home page.

11. When texting, the words just automatically show up and corrects the word you are writing (this is annoying)!Especially if you dont text in english! To turn automatic texting off; Update your iPhone OS to 2.1 or higher version. Newer OS has an option to turn off the auto-correction, it is located under “Settings > General > Keyboard”

12. This is probably something obvious for Mac users who use iPhoto ’09 and the iPhone 3G to take photo’s….. but….. each photo you take when you allow the location service adds your geographic location to the image. So when you import these images into iPhoto ’09, it can show you where the photo was taken. It can be a little buggy when taking images indoors as the GPS can’t get a fix.

Note: Windows users, I believe Picasa does something similar.

  13. This was one of the best things about the iphone and I was thrilled to discover it. You can have your banking, o2, paypal etc all as icons on the homepage, it’s great!

14. If you hit the space bar twice it inserts a period and space

15. if you hold down on the home button, it will force quit an app and take you strait to the home screen.

Use this method and … say bye bye to unwanted calls and telemarketers

The following is a way for ATT cellphone subscribers with LOCKED iPhones to block specific telephone numbers. My battle against a particular nasty Telemarketing Company continues with some of their system calling me every couple of days. You too may have a number you’d like to block; a disgruntled ex, a bailiff or debt collector, your parole officer, or any other such “person non grata”.

The bad news is that there is currently no way to block a particular phone number from calling your iPhone for FREE. Att appears to offer a paid service called “Smart Limits” that allows a user to block numbers but it’s $5 per month and why should we have to pay for this. The method I’m going to describe here is called the silent ringtone trick. Here it is in three easy steps:

First download the silent ringtone app file - Go to iTunes and search for “Silent Ringtone” app ($.99) – IMPORTANT — <<< DO NOT SIMPLY DOWNLOAD THE APP – FIRST YOU NEED TO DOWNLOAD IT TO YOUR COMPUTER. Once downloaded you’ll need to drag it into your iTunes ringtones folder and then sync it to your iPhone.

Next add the number that you wish to block to your Address book, give it a nice name like “Telemarketer Scum”, “Miffed Ex” or “Jonny Law”. If you’ve got a lot of numbers to block create one universal blocked call contact called Blocked and you can then add other numbers to it in future by the “Add to existing Contact” feature.

Finally assign this secret Silent Ringtone to the just added Telemarketer or Miffed Ex. Voila! you’ll never be disturbed by them again.

This method is not really a true way to block calls at the telephone exchange but really a workaround as you’ll still see their number in the Phone > Recents > Missed list BUT the phone will never again ring when they try to call and harass you, out of sound out of sight perhaps??!! I believe other phones such as the Treo have software to do this – so let’s hope that Apple iPhone will add this as a user software feature in the future!

Update: Feb 2010 – new At&t add on feature may allow number blocking for $5 pm

I was looking at my account online and was browsing under the Manage Tab > My Services > My Features and noticed an add on option called “Smart Limits for Wireless Parental Controls“ for the pricey sum of $5 per month.

It mentions that this option can “Block/allow specific numbers that can be called or text messaged (incoming and outgoing)” so perhaps this is what some of us have been looking for? This plan is mainly designed to lock down a phone a child’s phone for safety reasons but If anyone has tried it let me know.

Hacking your iPhone to run unofficial, third-party apps may seem unnecessary since Apple hosts its own App Store. But the corporation’s recently enforced prohibitions on some apps, such as the banning of Google Voice, are reviving the incentive for customers to jailbreak their iPhones once again.

Thanks to Cydia, an unauthorized app store open to jailbroken iPhones, consumers can still access some software that Apple won’t allow. Think free text-messaging and cheap international calls thanks to a Google Voice app that Apple banned. Or features that we can’t have yet, such as multimedia messaging and tethering. Here, we round up a list of the most compelling reasons to jailbreak your iPhone.

1. Google Voice

Apple recently rejected and banned Google Voice apps from its App Store. The apps would have augmented the search giant’s new voice service, which enables users to rely on a single phone number to ring all their phones, while also delivering the gift of free text messages, voicemail service and cheap international calls. The move stirred so much controversy that even the Federal Communications Commission is inquiring about the prohibition.

Thankfully in the Cydia store there’s GV Mobile, an unofficial Google Voice app. In light of Apple’s blanket ban of Google Voice apps, GV Mobile is the no. 1 reason to jailbreak your iPhone (if you weren’t one of the lucky few to grab a copy before Apple banned it). Overall the app is really sweet, despite having room to improve in terms of performance (connecting to Google’s server each time you launch the app can be a drag). Your contacts list is nicely integrated into the phone dialer and SMS sender; the overall UI is slick and cool. After a few minutes you’ll be sending free text messages, and maybe even dialing your relatives in Taiwan for once with cheap international VOIP calls. The best part? The app’s free.

2. Unrestricted 3G Privileges

AT&T iPhone owners pay $30 per month for “unlimited” 3G data access. But your access isn’t truly unlimited, thanks to restrictions that Apple imposed on some apps. SlingPlayer, an app that streams television from a Slingbox device, was crippled to work only on a Wi-Fi connection at the request of Apple and AT&T. And the Skype VOIP app only works on Wi-Fi, too, rendering it impractical.

This is where 3G Unrestrictor comes in handy. The $2 app enables jailbroken iPhone users to select any app that they wish to use over 3G, including Skype and SlingPlayer. Also, by default the App Store won’t let you download files larger than 10MB on the 3G network, and 3G Unrestrictor will remove that regulation, too. Free your apps and download away!

3. Tethering

Apple promised the new iPhone 3.0 OS would deliver tethering, but AT&T customers have yet to see that promise fulfilled. AT&T promised tethering would arrive “late summer.” Well, we’re waiting, and it’s not here yet. Some iPhone 3.0 users have figured out a roundabout way to turn on tethering without hacking, but that solution is only temporary.

Guess what? There’s a tethering app in Cydia, too. It’s a $5 app called Tether. The steps on setting up tethering aren’t as simple as Apple’s, but hey, you don’t even have to pay a monthly fee to use the service. The app even includes a feature to set a data cap in case you’re worried about extra charges incurred on your account if AT&T catches you tethering. It’s a little rough around the edges thanks to the network setup taking a few minutes, but we still love it.

4. Overseas Travel

Need to travel? Your iPhone can only go so far thanks to its carrier-tied SIM card, unless you wish to receive bills up the nostril thanks to international roaming costs. Jailbreaking will actually enable you to follow a process to unlock your iPhone to work with other carriers’ SIM cards overseas.

5. Pissing off Apple

Whether you’re a developer who has a beef with Apple, or if you’re a consumer who’s pissed at Apple, or if you’re a kid whose puppy was run over by an employee of Apple, then you may want to exact revenge by jailbreaking your iPhone. That’s because Apple clearly doesn’t like it when users jailbreak their iPhones. The company claims the process is illegal, and goes as far as to say jailbreaking will crash cellphone towers. So far these are empty threats, although buyer beware: Future court decisions, laws or FCC regulations may put teeth into Apple’s claims.

6. Pissing off AT&T

Frustrated with AT&T’s brainless customer service, spotty network reception and passive-aggressive totalitarian rule over the App Store? Jailbreaking for any of the reasons above will piss off AT&T, mostly by enabling your applications to use its 3G network without restriction. Or, if you like, you can take your protest a step further and unlock your jailbroken phone, enabling it to work with with T-Mobile or any other GSM-based carrier. It’s not a tea party, it’s an AT&T party!

Cydia is a replacement packaging and repository manager for the original Installer.app for the iPhone or iPod touch. It was created by Jay Freeman to replace BSD Subsystem and Installer.app. Cydia is a UI frontend to his Open Source APT for Debian called Telesphoreo. Cydia pomonella is the scientific name for the codling moth, which is what we often think of the as the stereotypical apple worm.

To get Cydia you need to have Installer.app already. Then just add http://apptapp.saurik.com/ as a source to Installer and install the package “Cydia Installer” from the “System” category.

Cydia itself looks similar to Installer.app but add many improvements to organization, functionality and performance of Installer. With Cydia you:

See the number of apps in each category
See details of what installing each app include such as file size and functionality added
Search for apps by name
See changes to your currently installed apps and available upgrades
See details of currently installed app and easily manage them

Currently with the release of the iPhone 3G which comes with OS 2.0 and the related iPhone pwnage tools many of the apps written for the older Installer.app have to be ported over so developers are working on that. In the next few weeks you will start to see more and more apps in Cydia with lots of cool new features, so check back often.

Note: The quick and easy way to get Cydia on your iPhone is to install it using QuickPwn.

<ins datetime="2008-09-24T05:47:04+00:00">Update</ins>: For Windows users with the iPhone 2.1 software update, you can get both Cydia and Installer on your iPhone really quickly and easily by installing the QuickPwn software on your Windows PC. The entire process is streamlined and takes only a few minutes.

<ins datetime="2009-06-27T08:27:08+00:00">Update</ins>: Ultrasn0w for iPhone 3G or 3GS is ready. You can now jailbreak and unlock your iPhone 3G or 3GS with OS 3.0 firmware.
1. Ensure you have upgraded to iPhone OS 3.0
2. Jailbreak your iPhone 3G using redsn0w or PwnageTool & if you have the 3GS use the purplera1n installer app to jailbreak it instead. (after this step you will have Cydia)
3. Run Cydia
4. Add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia. (that last o is actually the number zero)
5. Search for ‘ultrasn0w’ in cydia and install ultrasn0w
6. Reboot your iPhone 3G
7. T-Mobile USA users should disable 3G before using ultrasn0w

<ins datetime="2009-07-16T09:19:16+00:00">Update</ins>: Purplesn0w can also unlock your iPhone 3GS, so use it instead of Ultrasn0w if you wish. The steps are exactly the same as the above. Only use this repo source in Cydia apt.geohot.com and install Purplesn0w from there.

<ins datetime="2009-10-15T01:56:54+00:00">Update</ins>: If you have OS 3.1.2 you can use blackra1n or PwnageTool 3.1.4 to jailbreak and get Cydia installed on your iPhone or iPod touch.

Use iPhone mods and hacks at your own risk! Installing 3rd Party iPhone apps requires you to jailbreak the iPhone before installing the native software and apps. Browse the full list of all iPhone and iPod touch native 3rd party apps filed under the software category.

If you scan the list of top iPhone apps, you might be forgiven for thinking that the device, like adolescence, is mostly for playing videogames, making rude noises and connecting to Facebook.

However, a more thorough examination of the digital delectables on offer in the app store will reveal that, far from being merely a plaything that receives phone calls — as long as you don’t live in rural Montana or my neighborhood — the iPhone is actually a hard-core survival tool.

Imagine that you’re stranded on your stock desert island, charged with surviving until the Globetrotters, your superiors at FedEx or the Smoke Monster finds you. And suppose that, for some reason, this island is equipped with a USB port for charging.

Well, then, as long as you have your trusty iPhone, you needn’t fear hypothermia, malaria or starvation. You just need the right apps. Let’s take a look, shall we?

Flashlights

I’ve used lots of electronic devices as flashlights: Nintendo DS, PalmPilot and once, in the ’80s, I tried using one of those LED football games. The iPhone, however, is my first device — outside of an actual flashlight — with a dedicated flashlight mode. (Inside a flashlight, it’s too dark to read.) There are so many flashlight apps for the iPhone that developers are actually adding features to differentiate their products and earn your precious download. You can buy all sorts of colored disco-strobe flashlight apps, in case you want to travel treacherous pathways at night while listening to “Umbrella.”

Mosquito repellents

Until we reach the day that the iPhone can dispense quinine (second quarter 2012 by most estimates), the only way the gadget can help fend off malaria during your island sojourn is by keeping mosquitoes away. These supposed bug-banning apps emit a high-pitched noise that most people over 40 can’t hear. However, I remain skeptical about whether biting insects of any sort are repelled by high-pitched noises, unless you’re being bothered by the rare-but-majestic Self-Loathing Mosquito.

Hand warmers

There are two different hand-warming apps in the iPhone store, each of which does the same thing: Ask the iPhone’s CPU “What is love?” so that it spins into a Trek-like tizzy of futile calculation, which warms your phone up and makes everyone in your Contacts sweat like a missionary. Almost guaranteed to not cut your iPhone’s life by more than 50 percent! I can attest that the TomTom GPS app does the same thing, so if you feel like spending 60 bucks on a hand warmer, you can.

Army survival guides

I assume there’s a public domain Army survival guide out there, because there are at least three apps available that reprint it in electronic form. Not only will this guide tell you how to build shelter and find fresh water, it reveals which kind of face camouflage is best in areas with lots of coniferous trees. (Slash patterns, duh.) On the plus side, it helps keep you alive, but it also might make you wish you were marooned someplace more exciting. As public domain works go, Pride and Prejudice is less likely to help you survive a snake bite, but the Army survival guide lacks that dreamy Mr. Darcy. It’s really a personal choice.

Hunting calls

You’re warm, well-lit, protected from mosquitoes and adequately camouflaged. At some point, you’re probably going to want to eat. And you’re going to want to eat meat, because seriously nobody wants to hear that you ate grubs to survive. That’s like knowing that astronauts wear diapers. So you’re going to want one of these apps that makes noises that attract animals. One of the more expensive ones can attract — among other animals — coyotes and raccoons. I assume that’s not so you can eat them, but rather so you can summon them both and watch them fight.

(button above opens iTunes)

TickDoctor: Tick Identification Atlas

This app helps you identify any tick you come across, with detailed photos of them, both in their normal and their glistening, blood-engorged states. This will have obvious wilderness survival benefits if you accidentally eat something poisonous and need to induce vomiting.

These media-loving apps will connect you to news, radio, and your blog!

With immediate access to the latest news, as well as blogs and podcasts, you never have to feel disconnected these days. In fact, in most cases you can customize exactly which headlines end up on your screen so you only get the news you’re interested in. Here are a few of our favorite ways to stay in the loop.

Update your blog

iBlogger helps you manage your blog, including editing your recent posts.

You’re out and about when you stumble upon something you absolutely need to tell the world. All you’ve got on you is your iPhone. No problem. While the device isn’t ideal for typing out lengthy rants, it’s easy enough to dash off a short blog post.

Although most major blog platforms let you post to your blog via e-mail (you may need to change your blog settings or add a plug-in to do this), you’re limited in what you can do. For example, you may not be able to send pictures via e-mail, your formatting options may be limited, and if you make a typo you won’t be able to edit the post without resorting to the Web interface. A better option is to use an app specifically designed for the task. For a full-featured blogging client that works with just about any service, try IllumineX’s iBlogger ($10). iBlogger displays your 11 most recent posts and lets you edit them or delete them entirely. It can even manage multiple blogs. When updating your blog, you can easily post pictures, add categories and tags to entries, and tag your post with your current location, thanks to the iPhone’s location services.

Listen to podcasts on demand

If you run out of new podcasts to listen to while you’re away from your computer, there’s no need to do without. While most Web sites don’t stream audio or video in iPhone-friendly formats, the iTunes Store application offers instant gratification. The app lets you not only download new podcasts, but stream them, so you don’t even have to wait for them to finish downloading before you start listening. Just open the application, select Search from the toolbar, and enter the name of the podcast. You can download a podcast just as you would a song, by tapping on the Free button and then on Download, or you can play any episode immediately by tapping on its title. The iPhone’s media player will open and start playing the podcast (both video and audio, though the former will take longer to load). You can pause playback or even scrub ahead, though it will take a moment to jump, so be patient.

Missing out on your favorite public radio station? Public

Radio Tuner lets you stream many stations over the Web.

Stream the radio

While the iPhone can store plenty of media, sometimes you want to listen to something you don’t have on your iPhone, such as the local news when you’re out of town.

The free NPR Addict app from Pass Time Software offers access to recently aired episodes of popular shows from National Public Radio stations, such as A Prairie Home Companion and All Things Considered. American Public Media’s free Public Radio Tuner, on the other hand, can use your location to stream live audio content from many different public radio affiliates.

If you prefer a music station, try Weather Underground’s $6 Wunder Radio, which lets you stream audio content from conventional radio and Internet sources.

Get your news fix

If you’re a news junkie, you probably already have an RSS reader that keeps track of your favorite news feeds and delivers the latest headlines to you. If not, we recommend NewsGator’s free NetNewsWire, which allows you to sync your feeds with the desktop version of NetNewsWire as well as download them for offline viewing.

With InstaPaper you can save articles from your desktop for later viewing on your iPhone, even when you’re offline.

While the iPhone is ideal for checking up on news when you’ve got a little downtime, you probably don’t want to sift through 5,000 news items every time you load up your reader. No problem. Create a subset of your feeds: the 10 or 12 that you really want to read (in NetNewsWire, you can delete feeds on the iPhone version of NetNewsWire without losing them in the desktop version). Most readers also let you mark headlines to come back to later. This feature is your best friend on the iPhone, as opening multiple links can often be time-consuming, and there’s usually a limit on how many Web pages you can have open at the same time. In NetNewsWire, for example, you can save a story to your clippings and have it show up on your Mac.

To reduce the amount of noise you have to filter through, consider foregoing (or supplementing) your RSS regimen with Marco Arment’s free Instapaper. It lets you mark stories of particular interest from your desktop’s Web browser and have them download to a companion iPhone app. (For multipage Web articles, save the print-friendly version, if one’s available, to make sure you get the whole piece and not just one page).

Amazing uses for the iPhone’s camera

A 2-megapixel camera may not seem like much, but add Web access, a pocket-size Mac, and third-party apps to the mix, and that humble camera is now a personal assistant and digital video tool in one. The following are just a few of the ways you can expand the use of your camera.

See in the dark

The iPhone’s camera takes beautiful, crisp photos—as long as you’re outside on a sunny day. For the other 95 percent of the time, you’ll need to employ some photography kung fu to fight off blurry shots. The problem is that in low-light situations, even subtle hand movements can blur your image. Add to that the fact that on the iPhone you have to reach over and tap a small on-screen button to trigger your camera, and you have a recipe for bungled photos. For handheld shots, an app such as River Past’s $1 Night Camera can increase your chances of getting a steady shot. The program uses the iPhone’s accelerometer to determine when the camera is still enough to take the shot. It also lets you turn the entire screen into a shutter button-so you have an easier target-and lets you set a timer so you can prop up the iPhone and get in the shot yourself. In our tests, Night Camera gave us noticeably sharper photos in low light.

The Batrest lies flat in your wallet, so it’s always on hand when you need a little stability.

An even better way to get sharper photos is to prop your iPhone against something steady before you tap the camera button. If you’re willing to spend a little money, the $4 Batrest by Seskimo folds up to create a makeshift stand. When not in use, it collapses to the size of a credit card so you can carry it in your wallet. Seskimo also recently introduced the slightly larger $5 Crabble, which includes non-slip rubber pads that hold your iPhone more securely.

Take wider shots

Stitch multiple photos together to get the whole scene in Panoramas.

If you’re having trouble getting the whole scene in the shot, try taking multiple images and stitching them together into a panorama. There are several iPhone apps that let you do this, but Helix Interactive’s $2 Panoramas offers a good blend of affordability and power. You can take as many shots of a scene as you’d like in any orientation, and then stitch them together by placing markers on each photo to identify items that should line up. Panoramas then does its best to blend the photos and adjust colors to give you a seamless image. The process is very forgiving, so you don’t have to worry about keeping your camera perfectly straight or lining up the shots flawlessly—good news for those of us who are in a hurry.

Get a personal shopper

Show Amazon what you want, and the site will find it.

Want a teapot just like the one your local cafe uses? You could go to Amazon.com and manually search through more than 4,000 entries in hopes of finding the right model. Or save yourself a lot of time by downloading the free Amazon Mobile to your iPhone. In addition to providing options for browsing the store’s stock and making purchases, the app offers a personal shopping feature called Amazon Remembers. Use the program to submit a photo of just about anything, and someone from Amazon will try to match it with something similar from the site. If the person finds it, you’ll get an update within the app showing the details (including user reviews), as well as options to purchase it or add it to your wish list.

Find your mobile photos fast

Has one of the photos on your Mac performed its own disappearing act? If you took it with your iPhone, there’s a quick way to track it down. In iPhoto, press command-option-N to create a new smart album, and set the menus to read: Camera Model is Apple iPhone . Or, to gather every iPhone-taken photo on your Mac, regardless of whether it’s in iPhoto, use the Finder to create a smart folder. From the Finder, press command-F. In the resulting window, select Other from the Kind menu, and then choose Device Model. Select Is from the second menu and type iPhone in the text field. Click on the Save button to save the search in the Search For section of the Finder sidebar.

Supercharge your photo browser

Mobile Fotos lets you navigate your Flickr stream as easily as photos in the native Photos app.

The iPhone’s built-in Photos app is a fine photo viewer, but it syncs with only one computer, it can’t show you other people’s photos, it can’t play videos taken with your digital camera, and the photos it stores take up precious room on your iPhone’s hard drive. To put some muscle behind your photo browsing, skip the Photos app and instead combine Flickr’s online photo sharing site with an app like Mobile Fotos by XK72 .

iPhoto ’09 makes uploading photos to Flickr as easy as adding them to a photo album. Once your photos are on Flickr, use the Mobile Fotos app to access them on your iPhone. In addition to being able to flick through your photo stream and rotate the screen just as you can in the Photos app, you can view videos posted to Flickr, explore photos of family and friends, leave comments on others’ photos, add photos to your Twitter feed, and even see photos taken in your vicinity. And because the photos are online, you won’t have to worry about syncing your latest shots or filling up your hard drive.

Track down a font

Get some help tracking down mysterious fonts.

Hobo? Giddyup? Rabiohead? A lot of creative professionals are font obsessed. If you’re one of them, WhatTheFont by MyFonts is a handy addition to your iPhone. This free app helps you track down the font used for any text you encounter, whether it’s a movie poster, a box of cereal, or advertising copy in the morning newspaper. When you snap a photo of the text, WhatTheFont tries to detect the letters in the photo (you can correct it if it gets something wrong) and then matches the characters with the right font. In our tests, the program wasn’t always spot on, but it did always offer up at least a very close approximation.

Don’t forget the small stuff

Heading out to the store to shop for something in particular? Let your camera help you remember all the little details. There are numerous ways to put your camera to work including keeping track of different prices and designs as you shop, snapping the phone number for a window contractor from an ad in the paper, and reminding you want your kids are wearing when you stop at the playground on the way home. We have been told that users use their iPhone’s camera to remember where things are located, or to take an inventory of what’s in their suitcase before taking a trip, and to remember the location of certain favorite spots that were discovered on their last trip.

You might wonder how we find all the free or on sale iPhone & iPod Touch apps.

Today, I am going to let out my secret. The fact is, there are more than one such app but this is what I have used in recent days.

PandoraBox is an iPhone app that tracks iPhone apps on sale.

With more than 100,000 apps in the App Store and everyday dozens of these apps either go on sale by 20, 30, 70, 80 percent on sale or even sometimes goes FREE for a limited time.

A smart iPhoner would make use of such sales and grab the iPhone apps on a nice deal.

An app like Pandora Box makes that such an easy task. You can see the apps that are on sale that are updated several times a day. You can see the description of apps that are on sale or free.

You can also create your own list of favorite apps and track apps you want to find on sale.

There are a few sneaky developers who keep throwing their app on sale and removing it flooding these lists. PandoraBox has an answer to that. You can block certyain authors you don’t care about seeing in the list.

With the Thanksgiving holidays coming up in the US, there is going to be a ton of sales with some nice apps.

Will you be ready?

Have you heard about the free Apple iPhone offers? Well then you’re probably wondering what these offers are all about and if they are really legit. Well if you choose the right offer, from the right website, then these offers are 100% legit. However, you need to make sure that when you choose your free Apple iPhone offer that you know what you’re doing so that you stand a better chance of actually getting your freebie.

First of all there in no guarantee that you will get a free phone. These phones are not given out to everyone who signs up for the offer, but they are definitely given out and you do have to be “in it to win it!” So, since it’s free to enter, then in my book that has to be worth a shot. Usually the offers range from you completing a short survey or simply typing in your email address and your physical address

NOTE: there’s nothing dodgy about them wanting your physical address, they just need to know where to send your phone if you get one! You might also have to clarify your email address when you type it into the company’s website. This is so that the company does not send you anything via email that you do not want. Basically the company needs to have your official say so, for them to be able to get in touch with you. So usually to get a free Apple iPhone you have to click a link in an email that they send you, that way you give them the go ahead to contact you. This is why it is vital that you use a real email address when filling in your offer and not a fake made up one. Because if you use a fake address, then you will not be able to get your free Apple iPhone. Now

Here’s Some Important Info For You – The best site I know where you can get your Free Apple iPhone. Just click on the following link and go to the next page and get a real shot at getting your free Apple iPhone !
